Make these flaky puff pastry Apple Tarts that take a fraction of the time to make but taste as good as an apple pie! Try it to believe it!
If you want to make a snappy, simple dessert or an appetiser then frozen puff pastry can really come in handy. A couple months back I found it in the frozen foods section of Foodhall and I couldn’t contain my excitement. I bought two packs and started experimenting with it. This thing won my heart! I don’t think I’ve ever been happier to see something from the frozen section (except berries) as much as I was with this. It looks like a rectangular blob of dough but a lot of hard work goes int making it, and frankly it seems a lot of effort to make it from scratch when you’re baking at home so the frozen one works wonderfully!
Apples at their least complex can be their extremely finest. To make these simple tarts you only need 4 ingredients, and one of them is puff pastry. All you have to do is thaw it for sometime and then roll it out to your desired shape. I love doing rectangles because of the minimal wastage but you can easily do circles and roll the dough a couple time more until you use up most of the pastry. For the topping you need thinly sliced apples (so they cook well), lemon and brown sugar. Just mix them and lay them on the puff pastry sheets and BAKE! These little tarts cook quicker and are naturally portion controlled so you will automatically intake less calories. And technically you’re having apples so that makes them healthy, right? 😉 These tarts are great for a mall gathering or parties as they can be made ahead of time. For convenience, you can pre-bake the shells a day or two before serving. Sweet and flaky, these heavenly tarts are a delightful addition to your dinner party menu!
